Steps to use the Catalog functionality of the Woomelly plugin for WordPress
Next, we’ll explain the steps you need to follow to take full advantage of our Woomelly Catalog plugin in your WooCommerce store. If you follow each of these steps to the letter, you won’t have any issues during setup. If any questions, suggestions, or errors arise, don’t hesitate to reach out to our technical support team. Let’s get started!
1. Install and activate the Woomelly Catalog plugin
The first step is to install and activate the Woomelly Catalog plugin, just as you would with any other WordPress plugin. It’s worth noting that this plugin will appear in the Woomelly extensions list. From that section, you can update to the latest versions, as long as you have an active Woomelly license.
2. Perform a bulk sync using the Woomelly plugin
After installing the Woomelly Catalog plugin, it’s essential to record the status of the listings in relation to Mercado Libre’s “catalog” functionality for the store’s products. It’s suggested to carry out a bulk synchronization, depending on your current setup (either from Mercado Libre to WooCommerce or WooCommerce to Mercado Libre). This will update the “catalog” information in the listings.
2.1. Keep in mind for Mercado Libre to WooCommerce Syncs
Under Woomelly » Advanced Settings » Mercado Libre to WooCommerce Sync, you’ll find a new field to select the type of catalog listings you want to import.
Available options include:
All publications | This option is recommended as long as you don’t have duplicate listings on Mercado Libre. It allows synchronizing both traditional listings and catalog listings in your WooCommerce store. |
Only publications eligible for catalog | With this option, only traditional listings that can generate a catalog listing are synchronized. In many Mercado Libre categories, the platform automatically generates a catalog listing from a traditional listing. |
Only catalog-type publications | This option allows you to synchronize only those listings that are catalogs, excluding traditional listings. |
Only publications that are not catalogs (traditional) | With this option, all listings related to the Mercado Libre catalog are excluded. It’s recommended to use this option if you have many duplicate listings with catalog information. |
These listings will be properly classified, and from the WooCommerce product listing, you can filter them based on their status. It’s advised to synchronize all listings.
2.2. Filter in store product listing
In the store product listing (and also in the store order listing), you’ll find a filter that will allow you to identify the statuses of the products linked to catalog-type listings on Mercado Libre.
If you’re not familiar with the difference between a traditional listing, a catalog-type listing, a listing eligible for the catalog, or the competition between catalog listings, we recommend reading our article about Mercado Libre’s catalog. Understanding these concepts is essential for the next steps.
3. Do you sync from WooCommerce to Mercado Libre?
With the Catalog functionality of the Woomelly plugin for WordPress, you can directly sync with Mercado Libre’s catalog or post in said catalog those listings that are eligible and associated with your products. Below are the available options:
3.1. Syncs from WooCommerce to Mercado Libre: Catalog-type Listings
These listings compete in Mercado Libre’s catalog section. For instance, when accessing a product that belongs to this feature, catalog-type listings are the ones competing in that section. It’s important to note that these listings may or may not have related traditional listings. If there’s a related traditional listing, it will sync with the catalog listing to keep data, such as stock, price, shipping type, etc., identical.
3.2. Syncs from WooCommerce to Mercado Libre: Listings Eligible for Catalog
This type of listing allows you to create catalog-type listings. Often, it’s recommended (or even mandatory) that eligible traditional listings generate their respective catalog listing. To achieve this, just follow these steps:
- Start the posting process: In WooCommerce’s product list, search for the product associated with an eligible traditional listing and select the “eligible” option. Remember, the listing must be active on Mercado Libre. It’s the only allowed status at the moment.
- Post to catalog: A window will open with the listing details, and an option to post it to the catalog will appear. Click on the “post to catalog” button.
- Select the correct product: Possible catalog-type listings related to the traditional listing will be shown. Various data, like the title, attributes, universal code, category, etc., will be analyzed. Choose the product that best fits what you’re selling and ensure the features match. It’s the seller’s responsibility to validate that the product meets all sales parameters.
- Confirm the selected product: Next, re-confirm that you’ve chosen the correct product. It’s the seller’s responsibility to validate that the product meets all sales parameters.
- Complete the process: Done! At this point, a catalog listing linked to the traditional listing is created, competing with other sellers on the product catalog page.
3.3. Syncs from WooCommerce to Mercado Libre: Direct Listings to Catalog
If you have a product in WooCommerce that hasn’t been posted on Mercado Libre but belongs to a catalog category, you can post it directly as a catalog-type listing. In this case, the listing won’t be associated with a traditional one. Here are the steps:
- Start the posting process: In WooCommerce’s product list, search for the product you want to post directly to Mercado Libre’s catalog and select the “direct to catalog” option.
- Select the correct product: Search and select the catalog product related to the listing. Data like title, attributes, universal code, category, etc., will be analyzed. Choose the product that best fits your offering and ensure the features match. It’s the seller’s responsibility to validate that the product meets all sales parameters.
- Confirm the selected product: Next, re-confirm that you’ve chosen the correct product. It’s the seller’s responsibility to validate that the product meets all sales parameters.
- Complete the process: Done! A catalog listing associated with that WooCommerce product is created, competing with other sellers on the product catalog page.
4. Ongoing tracking and improvement in catalog competition
En el detalle de las publicaciones de catálogo, podrás conocer el estado de las mismas dentro de la competencia de catálogo. A continuación, te ofrecemos más detalles:
4.1. Competition in Mercado Libre’s Catalog
Once you have a listing in Mercado Libre’s catalog, it competes with other sellers for the top spot aiming to achieve the highest sales volume. The competition statuses in the catalog are:
Winning | The seller’s sales conditions are the best compared to other sellers for that product. |
Sharing first place | The seller offers the best deal alongside other sellers. |
Losing | Means other sellers have better sales conditions. |
Pending assignment | This status indicates the listing isn’t competing at the moment but is being analyzed by the algorithm to assign a status. |
IMPORTANT
All content in the catalog listings is provided by Mercado Libre. Therefore, it’s the seller’s responsibility to confirm that their associated product matches the specific features displayed on the platform. If there’s a discrepancy between what the user purchases and the associated product, claims or cancellations might occur, negatively impacting the seller’s reputation, possibly leading to a ban from posting in the catalog, and ultimately, account suspension.
The seller must validate the status of catalog listings to ensure they are always in a winning position. If that’s not the case, improvements need to be made to surpass the competition. In the catalog listing details, you will find the reason for winning or losing in that competition. Still have questions?
– Does the catalog feature of the Woomelly plugin for WordPress apply to all countries?
A. No. This feature is only available for countries that have the Catalog active on Mercado Libre.
– Is it mandatory to use the catalog functionality on Mercado Libre?
A. Generally, yes. While it’s true that many categories still don’t have the catalog feature active, in others it is mandatory due to Mercado Libre’s internal policies. There is no other way to list in these categories except through catalogs.
– Are these features included by default in the Woomelly plugin?
A. No. To use it, you need to download the Woomelly Catalog plugin from the plugin list of your account. The Woomelly Catalog plugin is completely free when you have an active license of the tool. It is recommended to perform a massive synchronization once the Woomelly Catalog plugin is installed to update the data.
– I installed the Woomelly Catalog plugin, but the eligible listings or any other catalog-related option do not appear. How can I fix this?
A. You must perform a massive synchronization through the Woomelly plugin to update all product data. If the problem persists, contact technical support for assistance as soon as possible.
– Can catalog listings be on Mercado Shops?
A. No, catalog-type listings can only be on Mercado Libre. However, traditional listings related to catalog listings (i.e., those eligible for catalog) can be both on Mercado Libre and Mercado Shops. To do this, create a traditional listing on Mercado Libre and then follow the steps to make it eligible for catalog.
If you directly list in the Mercado Libre catalog, that product cannot be on Mercado Shops. If you don’t know what Mercado Shops is, we recommend reading this article: Mercado Shops – Mercado Libre’s online store solution.
– What information can be modified in the catalog listing?
A. You can only modify the price, stock, type of listing, and shipping (in some cases). The rest of the information cannot be changed by the seller.
– I tried to create a catalog listing, and my product isn’t among the available options, what do I do?
A. You must report it directly to Mercado Libre. If there isn’t a catalog product that matches the one you want to list, you will have to manage the report directly from Mercado Libre, as that’s where you can do it. After a couple of days, the Mercado Libre team will evaluate and either approve or reject your request based on their internal policies. It’s not possible to make such reports through the official API, and therefore, not through our tools either.
